Crossover Movement Arts' 2011-2012 season is our fullest and most exciting yet! We have seven confirmed shows in metro Atlanta and Houston, with more to come, all featuring Crossover's dynamic and muscular fusion of contemporary dance, Freestyle Poling, martial arts, performance art, experimental soundscapes, compelling artistic explorations, and playful euphoria. Venues this season will include intimate studio and theater shows, and several site-specific public performances — a specialty of Crossover's — with anticipated audiences from the hundreds for some events to the thousands for one.

Crossover Movement Arts Season Launch Party

August 12 & 13, 2011, 8:00 p.m. (7:45 p.m. pre-show) at CORE Studios

Join Crossover as we celebrate the launch of our 2011-2012 season with a show featuring a sampling of some of our most popular creations from the 2010-2011 season and a peek at what we're creating for the season ahead. Reception to follow.

The All Hands Meeting

August 19-21, 2011 at the Houston Fringe Festival

In collaboration with FrenetiCore Dance and co-choreographer Rebecca French, Blake Dalton premiers a daring work featuring Freestyle Poling, dance on film, original music, elaborate costumes, and a cast of bizarre and captivating characters. The performance is presented by the Houston Fringe Festival.

FLUX Festival

September 30, 2011, 8:00 p.m.-Midnight in Castleberry Hill

"Occupied" is a new work created by Zoetic Dance Ensemble and Onur Topal Sumer for FLUX. It will feature contributions by collaborators Crossover Movement Arts and Emrah Kotan.

The West Zen — An Art on the Beltline Performance

October 1, 2011, 5:00 p.m. at The Wren's Nest House Museum

In partnership with experimental jazz band Zentropy and The Wren's Nest House Museum, Crossover presents an Art on the Beltline performance that begins at the historic home of Joel Chandler Harris, progresses through the West End neighborhood of Atlanta to the Beltline, then returns to The Wren's Nest for a party that continues into the night.

Pressure, and Iron and Steel — An Art on the Beltline Performance

November 5, 2011 next to Stein Steel

Presented by Dance Truck, Crossover Movement Arts brings to life the industrial history of the Atlanta Beltline and of longtime steel manufacturer Stein Steel with the premiers of "Pressure" and "Iron and Steel." An Art on the Beltline performance.

Freestyle Polers Take the Fourth Ward — An Art on the Beltline Performance

November 13, 2011, 4:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. free class) at Historic Fourth Ward Park

In partnership with Zentropy, Crossover presents an Art on the Beltline performance in the Historic Fourth Ward Park. This grand scale work features Freestyle Poling, a signature movement creation of artistic director Blake Dalton.

Kodac Harrison

January 13-14, 2012 at 7Stages

Crossover Movement Arts performs with legendary spoken word poet and singer-songwriter Kodac Harrison.
